Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, China and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for 21st Century Energy co-hosted the 1^st U.S.-China Forum on Sustainable Energy and the Environment in Beijing on May 20-21, 2008.  The purpose of the Forum was to promote better understanding and cooperation between the two sides on critical issues concerning energy and environment. 

    During the two-day forum, business leaders, industry experts, and government officials from China and the United States discussed the energy and environmental challenges faced by both countries.  Forum participants exchanged views and experiences on issues including U.S. and China’s energy strategies and energy security, environmental concerns and global climate change, and technological cooperation on energy efficiency.
